Slot Overview
The original Victoria Wild slot was released by TrueLab mid-2020 and starred a female adventurer making her way across sandstorm deserts to Temple Free Spins or Oasis Free Spins. It was an YGGDrasil Exclusive that garnered a measure of success for the up-and-coming team at TrueLab. So much so, the brave lady is back in a second slot titled Victoria Wild Deluxe. Deluxe is a word that usually means something of superior quality. Victoria Wild Deluxe isn’t vastly superior since TrueLab has chosen to basically re-release the same game. However, this deluxe version does have a feature buy option, and a slight, yet handy alteration has been made to one of the free spins bonus games.
This semi-loose use of the word deluxe means players essentially get the same Victoria Wild encounter as before. This is no bad thing because the game has a number of positives going for it. In the base game, the activity takes place on a see-through 5-reel, 15-payline game grid located in the middle of desert country, ruined buildings, piles of sand, and gnarled dry trees. Vic’s there too, on her motorbike, ready to spring into action when called on. Just as importantly, the soundtrack is as rousing as before. Well, it’s the same one as before, but it’s as rousing as ever and fits the game’s adventurous spirit like a charm.
Numerically, there have been a few changes, some rising, some falling. One that has dipped is RTP, now coming in at 96.22%, or 96.24% when buying free spins, down from 96.4% found in the original. RTP is variable, by the way, so be sure to check, though volatility remains unchanged on its medium setting. As before, the deluxe version may be played on any device, where stakes vary from 15 p/c to £/€150 per spin.
On to the paytable where nine regular symbols may be used to form winning combinations when three or more line up across the 15 fixed paylines. Four of the symbols are low pay N, S, E, W compass points; four are medium pay canteens, boots, bikes, and revolvers, plus one high pay symbol. This is Victoria – she is worth 40x the bet for five of a kind or 160x the bet for six of a kind in bonus games when an extra reel is added. Several types of wilds hit the reels at various phases, possessing the same value as the Victoria high pay symbol. Wilds land anywhere to substitute regular pays to help complete line wins.
Slot Features
You won’t find many additional features in the deluxe, which is fine since there was already plenty on tap. The base game benefits from a Sandstorm feature triggered randomly on any paid spin. When active, 2 to 6 Tornado Wilds drop onto the reels.
If at least one added Tornado Wild collides with another Tornado Wild, Sticky Tornado Respins are activated. During respins, all wilds are locked in place while reels respin. If a new wild appears, it is held alongside the other sticky wilds for another respin. The Sticky Tornado Respin feature ends when no new wilds appear.
Temple Free Spins are next, triggered when 3 or more scatter symbols land. The number awarded is 8, 10, or 12 free spins when 3, 4, or 5 scatters hit. In free spins, a 6th reel is added to the grid, and whenever a Lamp Wild symbol lands, Victoria collects it. If, at the end of free spins, at least 7 lamp wilds have accrued, the Secret Treasury feature activates. This awards 1 Wheel of Desire spin, where players win a payout of 15 to 160x their stake, or a multiplier of x2 to x25, which is applied to the total amount won during Temple Free Spins. Beware the one skull segment on the wheel awarding ‘no win’.
The second bonus game is Oasis Free Spins. Next to the grid, a map has been placed over the 6th reel. Collecting 25 Oasis symbols in the base game moves you along the map’s path and triggers 10 Oasis Free Spins. In this round, the 6th reel is activated, and Waterfall Wilds appear. These wilds cover all positions on their respective reel when they land. In Victoria Wild Deluxe, Waterfall Wilds can land on all 6 reels instead of reels 2-5 in the previous game.
Players who aren’t in the mood to wait for Temple Free Spins can now buy them. The cost is 56x the bet for at least 3 Temple Scatters to land on the next spin. Just to be clear, it is not possible to buy Oasis Free Spins.
Slot Verdict
Players who were entertained by the previous non-deluxe version of Victoria Wild will be just as thrilled by this one – provided they’re into bonus buys. If you’re looking to get some Victoria action in your life and aren’t bothered with the feature buy, the previous one does have a more favourable return to player value. Well, there are Waterfall Wilds on all reels in Oasis Free Spins now too, which is appreciated, but most of the time, you can’t really tell one game from the other.
As such, there isn’t much to add to the previous slot’s verdict. Victoria Wild Deluxe is a fun, medium volatile game, with an adventurous nature, supplied by the Indiana Jones visuals and excellent soundtrack – plus the features are pretty good. Strangely, during the review, the best wins came from Sticky Tornado Respins rather than free spins – despite repeatedly hammering the bonus buy for Temple Free Spins. Winning potential remains impressive, and Victoria Wild Deluxe has a built-in win cap of 25,000x the bet. It might not be needed, though, since the most TrueLab coaxed out over a billion simulated game rounds was 16,130 times the bet.
Victoria Wild Deluxe would have been a more intriguing prospect if TrueLab had made a completely new slot for Vicky to star in. But it’s a decent enough upgrade for followers of the first to skip straight to Temple Free Spins while benefiting from more modifiers in Oasis Free Spins. Of course, if the first Victoria Wild failed to spark your imagination, this one will blow past like sand on a lonely desert breeze as well.
